Ferzan Ozpetek

Film director and screenwriter born in 1959 in Istanbul. In 1976, he moved to Italy to study the film history. He also attended directing courses, after which he worked as an assistant to such artists as Lamberto Bava, Massimo Troisi and Maurizio Ponzi. His independent debut was 1997 film “Hamam,” which brought him over a dozen awards all around the world. “Harem Suare,” which he made two years later, was shown at the Cannes film festival. His 2003 film “Facing Windows” was a great success – not only did it win the Crystal Globe in Karlovy Vary, but also five awards of Italian film industry, among others. His later productions “Saturn in Opposition” and “Loose Cannons” confirmed his strong position among European cinema authors.
