REGULATIONS FOR THE 2013 EUROPEAN COMPETITION ENTRIES

EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL FOR DOCUMENTARIES dokumentART

Every year, innovative documentary film makers from all over Europe meet up in Szczecin, a Pomeranian metropolis, and in Neubrandenburg. They show films which deal with changing realities; films which test and transcend the boundaries of their genre, operating between tradition and avant-garde. We also welcome entries from young film makers, not necessarily recognised in Europe. We accept documentary films in formats listed in the entry form.

We only accept European productions no longer than 60 minutes and completed after 1st of January 2012.

Preference will be given to film premières of European productions. The film should be subtitled in English.

Every year, during the eight days of the film festival there are several dozen events taking place next to the film contest: retrospectives and film premières, meetings with film makers, a trans-frontier forum, and encounters between the Eastern and Western culture.

LOCATION AND ORGANISATION

The festival is organised by the Polish OFFicyna association in Szczecin/Poland and Latücht – Film & Medien e.V. in Neubrandenburg/Germany; the festival program is presented in both towns simultaneously. It enables the film makers to meet the audience on both sides of the border and confront opinions coming from from different cultural areas. Moreover, fragments of the festival program are screened in cities around Pomerania Euroregion.

PANEL | JURY | PRIZES

An independent Polish-German panel will select the films to be shown at the festival. Prizes will be distributed by an independent jury consisting of experts chosen by the organisers. The total value of the prizes is 10,000 Euro.

REGISTRATION | DEADLINE

An entry form with correct information and  preview films in DVD format must reach us by June 14th 2013. Please supply a short summary of the film and a dialogue list (in English and, if possible, in both Polish and German). Please supply the author's biography and filmography, the latter giving the original film titles.

You can download the entry form from the dokumentART website: www.dokumentart.org.

Please complete the registration form carefully, filling in each blank. Please ensure that you give your full address, post code, telephone number, fax number, and email address.

Entries arriving after the deadline, and/or without English dialogue lists will not be considered for inclusion in the programs.

FESTIVAL COPIES DEADLINE | INSTRUCTIONS ON POSTING | INSURANCE

Film copies to be screened at the festival are to be delivered by October 1st 2013.

In addition to the screening copy, we request a DVD with the screening version of the film (without the preview fade-in), recorded in optimal quality and desired image ratio (please specify).

This DVD will remain in the festival's stock for later screenings in the region. We solicit all film makers to give technical details as precise as possible, otherwise a smooth screening in the highest quality cannot be guaranteed.

In case the festival copy is not delivered until 1.10.2013, we will use the DVD material for the screening. Please notify us early if the films are to be sent on from another festival. Shipping takes place at the sender’s own expense and risk. All entries arriving with insufficient postage will be returned.

The organisers take no responsibility for the shipping of films.

The film shall be returned at the organiser's expense. When sending an entry from abroad, please mark the package: “For cultural purposes only. Not for commercial use. Receiver is declaring own customs charge.” Please ensure that you obtain the necessary re-importation forms from customs before posting your entry. Films are insured for the duration of the festival.
